In this video we are showing the installation of the Lifeline ZERO 2000 4L fire suppression in a rally car to be in compliance with the new 2021 ARA rules.
We also review the FIA rules and highlight the manufacturer instructions to have a fully compliant installation.
The dampers don't come with the kit, you can find them here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PV6PLRB
With the ARA finally bringing on Rallysafe, it is now required that all teams competing in an ARA sanctioned event that RallySafe is onboard. There are multiple options when it comes to install kits, but
Kits can be purchased directly on the RallySafe website here:

Note: the permanent kit requires a 14mm hole to be drilled into the roof of your car. See the installation video.
After installing welded seat mount tubes into the car, we went ahead and had Liam at Offbeat Customs install a 3rd welded submarine harness bar in the car as well. See below for before, progress, and after photos. With the standard approach of eye bolts bolted through the floor of the car, the bolts on the underside are susceptible to any impacts that you might encounter on a rally.
If the right impact occurs and you catch the bottom side of the eye bolt, it could both rip the eye bolt out of place and cause issues with your submarine harness fitment (and potentially hurt you as well). Welding in a 3rd bar for your submarine harness provides an opportunity to remove the eye bolts through the floor and keep the connection to your harness on the inside of the car.
Before middle welded submarine harness bar installed. Notice the eye bolts/washers through the floor of car.

Finished product with welded submarine harness bar installed and harnesses looped around bar vs. being secured to the eye bolts through the floor of the vehicle.
Check out our new unboxing video on the Monit G-100+ Rally Computer.
We cover high level of what's included and what additional accessories you'll need to get this installed into your rally car.
We'll be doing an install, overview, and review of the computer in the next few weeks!
Installation of the Diode Dynamics SS30 Combo light bar was very straight forward. The most difficult part was fabricating a small extension piece that could be attached to the light bar. These pieces extend the range of the tilt that could be applied when the mounts are secured to the hood of the rally car.
With the curve of the hood, the stock Diode Dynamics mounts end up aiming the light bar too far down and would result in poor performance. The slight modification allows proper angle and plenty of adjustment should we need to make more fine adjustments.
The wiring harness is run from the light bar through the firewall and directly to the car battery (located behind the codriver seat) and switch (pictured below).
We re-installed our Sparco map light (https://rally.build/products/sparco-led-flexible-map-light) last night after I broke the first one during the first install (messed up the small circuit board). Purchased from Rally.Build, shipping was fast and easy.
This is an awesome light that is secured onto the roll cage with zip ties and is hard wired to our fuse box using a fuse tap.
Rally Perce Neige was going to be the first night time rally that Cherokstars Racing participated in, but that has been cancelled due to Covid. Additionally, the border with Canada is still closed.
Today we install a set of SealSavers on our Subaru rally car. It's our first time using SealSavers. They come highly recommended and it was time to replace a few of our ripped coil protectors.
We're using the 2-2.5" ProSeries Coil Savers. Installation was a breeze and fit very nicely. Will follow up with some thoughts on wear once we get to try them out!
With a little bit more time with Covid lock downs, Cherokstars Racing decided to build a website. We'll be sharing racing updates, work on the cars, photos, and videos from our YouTube channel.
Stay tuned!
